ADULTS

Our smiles are one of our most important features.

We all want to be able to smile with confidence, so it comes as no surprise that more and more adults are looking into orthodontic treatment. Nowadays, around one in every five Australian orthodontic patients are adults.

When is orthodontic treatment an option?

Orthodontic treatment is an option for most adults with crooked teeth or uneven bites, just as it is for children and teenagers.

Some of the most common situations where treatment may be considered in adults are:

  • Crowded, crooked or misplaced teeth

  • Protruding teeth

  • Underbite or overbite

  • Jaws and teeth that are out of proportion to the rest of the face

  • Excessive spacing between the teeth

What are the benefits of orthodontic treatment?

There are plenty of psychological benefits to undergoing orthodontic treatment, with patients often reporting a boost in their self-confidence. Having a healthy, beautiful smile can give you assurance in your professional life as much as in your personal life, equipping you with the confidence you need for success.

In addition to improved self-confidence, there are also a number of health benefits to straighter teeth - the main reason being straight teeth are easier to clean. Inadequate cleaning is a major factor in tooth decay, gum disease and eventual tooth loss.

Orthodontic treatment to improve a bad bite and realign your jaw may also improve sleep disorders, teeth grinding, breathing and chewing difficulties – and even some speech problems.

Adult orthodontic treatment options

When it comes to undertaking orthodontic treatment as an adult, there are plenty of options to suit all needs, lifestyles and budgets. Our team will provide advice and a treatment plan tailored to your needs, but here are some of the most popular treatment options for adult patients.

GOLD BRACES

Gold braces are also made from stainless steel but are coated with a thin layer of gold. This provides the same lightweight and smaller design features as stainless steel braces. However, the gold braces are known for a higher-quality look and to be more aesthetically pleasing.

CERAMIC BRACES

Braces have changed a lot over the years! Modern clear or ‘tooth coloured’ braces are still visible but also very subtle.

LINGUAL BRACES

Lingual braces function like traditional braces but they are glued to the back of your teeth instead of the front, so no one will be able to see them! Lingual braces are typically more expensive but if you’re looking for a discreet option then lingual braces are worth considering.

How much does treatment cost?

It’s one of the first things most people want to know – how much does orthodontic treatment actually cost? Without an initial consultation, it’s near impossible to determine the cost of orthodontic treatment. Each case differs from one to the next and there’s no ‘one size fits all’ price. You will need an assessment first.

Unlike most orthodontic clinics, we do not require upfront payment for treatment. We offer interest-free payment plans and can help organise a payment schedule that will suit you.

If you have private health insurance, you may be entitled to claim a portion of the treatment cost back from your health fund. Our reception team can help you make a claim on the spot using our HICAPS machine.
